Thrilling Two-Fisted Tales of Commuters Observed:
Exiting the Foggy Bottom station this chilly morning, I was greeted by yet more proof of cyberpunk coming true in our everyday lives. At the top of the escalator was a guy handing out... something. He kept saying, over and over, and too loudly for the early morning, "Microsoft wants to invite you to a party!" and shoving things at us. Paper or a disc or whatever. No one was taking it, and everyone was avoiding him. The remarkably cyberpunk part was what he was wearing. It was some sort of harness, with a backpack on the back, and a tube went up from that, to support the flatscreen TV that was hanging right above his head and playing some commercial or something. It was impossible to make out what the lady on the TV was saying over his yelling and the general bustle of crowds trying to get on to and off of the escalators. I tried to get a cell cam pic, will post it if it's clear enough. Too surreal.
