Last night was a treat, I confess. Operative X and hit the Royal Mile again, and a scotch egg was obtained. A quick booze run afterwards, and back to her place for two movies...
I finally got to see Final Destination. I'd say it was a letdown, but it was pretty much what I expected, and I don't want to give this film much credit. Some parts were so bad they're funny. The best embalmer ever, as well as one of the better deaths on film. Also, some of the worst deaths on film. Really, if this movie is telling the truth about death, I have nothing to fear from the Grim Reaper, because he's sloppy and uncreative (well, maybe creative, but not in a good way.)
After continuing some excellent discussion, we went on to watch 1984. I haven't seen the film in, roughly, eleven years, and it's still really pretty awesome. John Hurt is astounding, and the whole look and feel of the film, man. So, so gripping. And I'm beginning to think there's no coincidence that it was released on DVD now, considering current events.
More great debate while listening to music, a quick view of Richie's suicide from The Royal Tenenbaums, and I had to call it a night. Big time fun.
