I know, to get them out of poverty, let's reduce the amount of money they have and cut off resources! How does stopping aid help?

"For the recipient [aid] creates dependency, undermines self-reliance and ultimately breeds resentment."

Dependency is not poverty. Low-self-reliance is not poverty. Resentment is not poverty. The aid that is misspent is a large portion of the money being sent over. The aid that is being spent well is helping someone, somewhere.

I love the last line of the story on the Italian warrants... "at some point the Americans will begin to think they can't trust the Italians."
