KARAOKE, 5/27/05

We headed back to My Way, which once again has karaoke. Unfortunately, it was not the other people who used to do it, just a one man production. And he's got a, uh, challenging playlist. There's stuff to be sung, for sure, but it wasn't a very robust list. Combined with My Way's usual lack of service (none, really,) I have to admit it wasn't my favorite venue. However, the company was good, at least.

Also, on a karaoke-related note, volumes between songs, singers and music was somewhat challenging. Sometimes I couldn't hear the people singing above the music, sometimes when I was up there my own vocals were really, really loud. Also, as you may note before, the order in which people were called was... interesting. Oh, and the worst part? They closed up shop at midnight. Midnight! Yeesh.

SONGS WE DID:
BadHand - "Travelin' Band"
Regent - "The Way"
Greta - "Black Velvet"
Davros - "Country Road"
BadHand - "Sex Machine" (with dance!)
Miss Scarlett - "The Greatest American Hero"
me - "Voices Carry" (kind of blew it, long story)
Davros - "Wicked Game"
Regent - "The First Cut is the Deepest"
BadHand - Five for Fighting, "It's Not Easy"
Miss Scarlett - Simon and Garfunkel, "The Boxer" (!)
Voldo - the Kingston Trio, "Scotch & Soda"
me - Warren Zevon, "Werewolves of London"
Black Queen - "Killing Me Softly"
Davros - "Mexican Radio"
Kermit - Sam the Sham and the Pharohs (!), "Li'l Red Riding Hood"
Davros - "Ring of Fire"
Regent - Counting Crows, "Angels of the Silences"
BadHand - "Imagine"
Miss Scarlett - "What's New Pussycat"
me - "Mack the Knife" (much fun to sing)
Black Queen - "Zombie" (!)
Greta - Beck, "Loser" (!)
Davros - the Guess Who, "Laughing"
Kermit - "Whip It" (with two backup robots!)

So. Would people be up for karaoke next Saturday, June 4th? Short notice, I know, but a certain someone reports to be in town for the weekend. I'm thinking Oliver's in Laurel (right on Main Street, near Red, Hot and Blue.)
