Recruiting Superheroes
By George Gene Gustines
Published: April 27, 2005
Marvel Comics, which publishes the adventures of Spider-Man, the X-Men and other superheroes, has created a comic book for United States troops that will be introduced tomorrow at the Pentagon, USA Today reported yesterday. Written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Dan Jurgens and Sandu Florea, the story features the Fantastic Four and the New Avengers on a mission to discover the origin of an ancient spacecraft found in Louisiana. To be distributed free to service members next month, the comic, with a print run of more than a million copies, is part of the Defense Department's America Supports You campaign, intended to build morale.
