anthology of interest
1.) Thrilling Two-Fisted Tales of Commuters Observed:
Yesterday, waiting for the Metro at the Virginia Square stop, there were two German high-school girls, on opposite platforms, yelling a conversation back and forth in German. Very surreal.

2.) Anyone else tired of news coverage about the Pope? Anyone? I know it's important and significant and all, but still.

3.) EW gallery comparing Sin City characters, from page to screen.

4.) As mentioned yesterday, RQ and I moved the computer from the basement into the living room. Room is smaller now, and I hope to teach tze bebe not to play with the exciting cables. (Much like I intent to teach the cats to stop sleeping on the monitor. Uphill battle.) RQ's been on a house-reorganizing kick recently, I won't complain. Means more video game time to me, and less sequestering in the basement in general. Basement's totally just for storage and laundry now.

Only snag was the cable-splitting didn't work like she thought it would, so home machine is offline until she hits the store to pick up another cable. Hopefully tonight. Hopefully.

5.) Picked up a new version of Mozart's Requiem at Borders over the weekend, as I misplaced my old copy. And damn if this one (Vienna Orchestra, I think) isn't twice as good as the old one.

6.) Hee. Downloadable guerilla posters for Firefly and Serenity.

I am way more tolerant of the news and coverage of the death of a Pope than I am of some random, essentially brain dead, woman.. or the trial of some freaky pedophile in California.. If for nothing else, because I find the ceremony of it all very interesting..

And at least he has a 26 year history of being an important and influential individual.

I watch and read a lot of news, I suppose, so by yesterday evening, I was re-reading the same story, three iterations later. Only so many different ways they can describe who the successors might be, or what the implications of the choice of the next Pope are.

How did she think the cable splitting would work?
PMMJ: Sisyphuscheetahmaster on April 5th, 2005 07:29 am (UTC)
Oh, there were two cables coming in from the wall, so I think the plan was to just use the second one and go from there. But the second wasn't activated, and while we had a splitter, we then didn't have enough cable to reach across the room.

Like I said, i wasn't involved in the planning, so 'm not entirely sure where the confusion came in. Nonetheless, won't be a big issue.

Oh. Yes.

I understand why they're doing it, but really I could care less about how Popes are chosen and whether or not there will be bells or even how many miles long the line of people in Rome is.
PMMJ: Camelcheetahmaster on April 5th, 2005 07:54 am (UTC)
I was fine (even faintly interested) the first time I heard it, but man, got boring after the first few.
MsCongeniality: wake memscongeniality on April 5th, 2005 08:04 am (UTC)
Nope, not even faintly interested on this end. Really, I'm not fond of the Catholic Church at the best of times...getting smacked over the head with them and their arcane procedures is beyond old.
PMMJ: Camelcheetahmaster on April 5th, 2005 10:00 am (UTC)
Oh, I'd be faintly interested regardless of which religion it was.

You have to admit that it's cool that the visitors more than double the population of Rome.

Ain't you a Catholic?

But yeah, I agree. If it weren't for Angels & Demons (Dan Brown) I wouldn't care at all. But now I'm sort of hoping that the Illuminati tries to blow up the basillica with an anti-matter bomb. That would be awesome.

Heh.

It was cheery teenage-girl yelling, luckily.
