a must read for comic book fans
Joe Quesada: I liked your [run on Green Arrow.]
Kevin Smith: Me too. First time I cared about the character.
Quesada: I think you did a better job on that than on [Daredevil.] Only because you got the craft down.
Smith: C'mon - a guy with bows and arrows? How could you not care about him?
Quesada: I like that he dresses in green. And adds that to his moniker.
Smith: I went from red to green. If I could write for Professor Zoom, I will have conquered the stop light.
Quesada: Man, that's even too deep for me.
Smith: I've gotta chat with Geoff Johns to make references like that.

-Newsarama interview between Kevin Smith and Joe Quesada. Over instant messenger. Highly quotable.
(Bonus points: the phrase "knee deep in coke and whores.")

I was pretty pleased with what I read, but haven't finished it, as I was waiting for the graphic novel (and now, am slacking.)

Wait, you like comic books too? There's no end to your qualities.

ooh yes i lurve me the x-men, mostly because i'm a little asian ass-kicker with a dark past and crazy spy family, so logan would totally lurve me, but then i'd have to kill him. aw.

of all the newish x-men series of the past, say, decade, i (heart) the ultimate x-men the most. the new/uncanny/xtreme i've stopped reading, really. i was all psyched for the astonishing, but i found it odd that the only recognizable joss lines came as comic relief from hank. what is that? i was so looking forward to some heart-rending epic tragic love story, and again, eh.

Ah well, these things happen. At least you weren't Captain Britain, and then went blind, and then you got cybereyes in Mojoworld, and then you were, uh, a ninja. And then things got weird.

As aforementioned, haven't read Astonishing yet because I am lame. However, I hadn't regularly read X-men in, oh, ten or so years, until someone clued me into Ultimate. And I'm happy as a clam with it, even with its foibles. I've read some other recent stuff here and there, but Ultimate X-men is my fave of the lot.

(And while we're on the subject, since I haven't preached to you specifically yet, next time you're at the store, pick up Runaways volume 1.)

and isn't it funny how everyone eventually ends up dead or be-ninja-ed?

But no one stays dead. Fading into obscurity is far, far worse.

Hey, I followed you over from scans_daily out of iconlove and curiosity. Please do not think I am a creepy stalker, but thanks for pointing out this interview. I have serious love for Smith's GA.

No stalkerness presumed. :}

I'm a fan of Smith, Quesada, Green Arrow and cool interviews, so really, it won for me on every point.
