The FAQ Question of the Day
4.11Q: I killed a shopkeeper named Izchak, why is everyone so mad at me?

4.11A: Izchak Miller, one of the founding members of the DevTeam, passed away on April 1, 1994 from complications due to cancer. As he was responsible for, among other things, much of the shopkeeper logic, the owner of the lighting shop was named for him as a tribute. The DevTeam dedicated version 3.2 of NetHack to the memory of Izchak Miller. Many players who will happily slay everything else that moves will spare Izchak's life as a sign of respect.

For a little more info, including a post from Izchak's daughter, check out the following thread from 1996 in rgrn: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&ic=1&th=714fda729e8182a7

So you have now mentioned Quake and NetHack.

What other computer games do you suck clean of their .. um .. marrow of computer gaming goodness.

ahem.

The NetHack thing was suggested by another reader, I've never touched it myself.

I will confess to having quite the Quake addiction, back in the day. Mind you, I haven't touched it since, oh, Quake 2 was coming out, so it's been a while.

The only games I am playing these days are Diablo 2 (once every couple months,) Dark Ages O' Camelot (not often enough,) and Crimsonland (far, far too often.)

I like video games, but I just don't have the time for lots of them. GTA3 tempted me, but I would have to buy whatever system it is on.
