The first half of Salem's Lot wasn't that bad. Really, better than I expected. I was signed up when I heard they had Donald Sutherland and Andre "Pembleton" Braugher. I got a pleasant surprise when the credits scrolled, and we *also* got James Cromwell and... Rutger Hauer.

And the entire time I was watching it, I kept asking, who is that actor playing Larry? I *knew* I knew him from somewhere... so, commercial break, imdB... and it's Pig-Killer from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome! Hee hee. I'm *so* proud I recognized him from there (since I haven't seen him in *anything* else.)

Anyways, the show itself. It's been pretty decent so far. It's been a long, long time since I read the book or saw the original, so can't really judge it on that. The updates haven't been too intrusive, which I appreciate. If you're gonna update, do it elegantly, or just set it back in the 80's and be done with it. So, for a made-for-TV miniseries, not bad, and I will be finishing it out.

I don't know which I like better, though: Donald Sutherland's impersonation of Raymond Burr, or his crazy-ass beard and hair.
