Fifty years ago, on June 9, 1954, in one of the most dramatic confrontations of the Senate-Army Hearings, Army special counsel Joseph Welch denounced Senator Joseph McCarthy's attack on a member of Welch's law firm, Frederick Fisher. Said Welch to McCarthy: "Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?"

(And in picking up bebe, heard a great story on NPR with this audio as well as more from that fateful day. Will put up a link tomorrow.)

Also, on this day in 68 A.D., the Roman Emperor Nero committed suicide.

Dinner with older sister Ripper last night was fine and tasty. Bebe was, well, sort of well-behaved. She once again when right to bed when we got home, although waking up a couple times last night. Tonight, dinner with Mom in Bowie.

Saw the snake again out in front of the house, just lazing along. Now I need to come up with a name for him. I'm thinking Silas.

Also, just saw the last part of Jon Stewart interviewing a pelican puppet. I must get it on tape in reruns (much like I need to tape the rerun of Seth Green on Sesame Street.)

RQ returns at dang early o'clock tomorrow. Bebe will be very happy to see her.

I forgot my code name was Ripper. What's the younger sister's code name? Anyway, it was fun having you here and we should definately do it when RQ is back in town.

You seemed to be taking excellent care of le bebe. She tolerated her cousin very well, I thought. Now Ben needs a code name. I forgot what you were calling him when he was just a little wiggle-worm, but you has something for him straight off.

I second Silas as a good name for the rat-snake.

Younger sister is, uh, Patches.

Indeed. Had she been less feisty, it would have been an ideal situation.

Hmmm. I forgot what I was calling him before too. It wasn't Winston, though maybe it should have been.

Hee, I call my sister's baby Fluff. She was The Fussels From Brussels for a while there, but Fluff seems to have stuck. Poor kid, she has no idea I'll still be calling her that when she's 15.

Question?
Is your child's name really "Bebe" or do you just refer to her as your bébé and that is why you call her that?

Re: Question?
No, but that would be awesome.

Her full name is Zoe Rose Jacobus Redding.

Bebe is just a nickname.
