In Theaters: The Wolverine and Kick-Ass 2

Closing out a disappointing summer on the silver screen, The Wolverine continues the 20th Century Fox tradition of some decent scenes and decent characterization strung together into a lackluster superhero movie. Yes, there were some good parts, but on the whole, the film is somewhat disjointed, occasionally silly, but on the whole disappointing. Was it better than the first one? Sure. Was is good? No.

Kick-Ass 2 was a pleasant surprise, on the other hand. I wasn't huge into the first one, but the sequel surpassed it. Hit-Girl gets a larger role, and deservedly so, and her storyline works well woven into the other plot. There's still a decent amount of fights and action, but handled better than I would have given them credit going in. Plus some other surprises I won't want to give away here. Check it out on Netflix/DVD/etc.
