as noted elsewhere
"Low-wage businesses are already passing-on their 'saved' costs to everybody in the form of Medicaid, food stamps, section 8 housing, and other tax-funded services for the poor. I'd rather pay more for employees with good jobs and benefits than pay taxes to subsidize low-paid workers. And those who depend on my taxes to maintain their low prices deserve to go out of business."

Hear, hear! That's just the sort of thing I thought when I heard about Walmart employees on welfare. I don't want to subsidize that kind of business with my tax dollars!

You know what kills me? This idea that if we don't give these megalobusinesses tax breaks they will take their business elsewhere. Seriously? Where outside America do you think the majority of these businesses are going to thrive. If the states (or the feds, ha ha ha) put down their foot and said no more crazy handouts to businesses then the businesses would have to take a smaller profit margin & there would be more long-term social gain.

It's one of our multitudinous annoying contradictions.
