Darkseid is.

today's commuting woe

So, preface the story by pointing out that I am majorly sleep-deprived today.

Get to the Friendship Heights station in time to catch my bus this morning. Few minutes later, at 6:35, the 31 bus drives right through the station, not even slowing down, much less stopping. Grimly resolved, I wait for the next bus (at that time of the morning, there's a number of buses that will get me to work.)

Twenty-five minutes later, there are four buses lined up at the station, but none taking on riders yet. The front bus, one of the newer models, is having problems setting its destination. Oh, and the other buses pulled too closely behind each other, so everyone is stuck waiting for that to get resolved. Eventually, the driver just gives up, pulls up, picks up the crowd of people waiting to get out of the station, and drives off.

Of course five minutes down the road the bus just sort of... stops working. The crowd is surly, and I think pretty justifiably so. The bus driver is cranky, because he's getting attitude and there's not much he can do about it, really. Luckily it's only another five minutes before the next bus shows up, but man.

And thusly I was all kinds of late to work, and for a change of pace, it wasn't my fault. Not a great start to the day.
