What the hell?!

Three easy pieces from NPR

Driving home from work, three excellent stories on NPR, back to back. Yes, I realize the subjects might not be of interest to everyone, but each of them was a treat, and they are all better listened to than read. Check them out!

Top Chef's Carla makes an apple tart. (This one has an audio component about how something should sound while it is being made.)

The story behind the dance hit 'Barbra Streisand.'

CAN'T TRUST THAT DAY:
* Grr. Just remember: if you're going to violate international law, destroy the evidence too.
* Exposing the inherent unfairness in the foreclosure debacle.
* I know it's not really news, but sometimes spelling out the hypocrisy in things like the gay marriage debate makes it all very clear.
* Good read: GLAAD's response to the Ron Howard gay joke defense.
* Oh, and while you were busy, the LHC totally made mini-big-bangs.
* On David Lynch and the AFI.
* So, not only are those upcoming board game movies a terrible idea, but they're also a gigantic moneysink. Well done!
* 33 conspiracy theories that turned out to be true.
