In Theaters: Despicable Me

Over the weekend, we headed out to celebrate Z.'s half-birthday with lunch. Which became a dinner, leaving us a couple hours to kill first. Headed over to the theater and caught a surprise matinee of Despicable Me. The movie is fun, and rather charming. Not an excellent film by any means, and the plot is pretty well telegraphed early on. That being said, it's consistently entertaining. The voice cast is good, and Steve Carell's accent is almost worth it by itself. Check it out on cable.

New trailers:
* Alpha and Omega - two animated wolves overcome their differences and fall in love. Seriously, it was like an outline of the whole movie. Even the voiceover was cliched.
* Megamind - Ooh, yes. Right up my alley.
* The Smurfs - Just a teaser trailer, but, maybe? As with that Chipmunks revival, it'll depend on the writing.
* Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore - I was only so-so on the first one, but this, I am looking forward to. Bonus: Bette Midler voices the villain.
* Nanny McPhee Returns - Unexpected sequel! And, it looks identical to the first. So, uh, why bother?
