For a treat yesterday, M. and I took Z. and Trinity to see Stardust. It's a positively lovely movie, a fairy tale geared towards adults, but the kids will like it too (though some jokes are clearly just for the grown-ups.) Creative fantasy, funny, and a little action to boot. Highly enjoyable, well worth your time to catch it on the big screen.

New trailers:
* August Rush - Huh. I don't normally like movies like this, but the trailer is positively charming. (Especially back to back with Across the Universe.) Firm maybe.
* Beowulf - I don't know. I'm a huge fan of the material, but the animation is a little... off. Not sure why they didn't just go with live-action, or even the 300-ish stylized look. We'll see.

"A White House manual that came to light recently gives presidential advance staffers extensive instructions in the art of 'deterring potential protestors' from President Bush's public appearances around the country."

"The Electoral College should be abolished, but there is a right way to do it and a wrong way."

"The Pentagon has a disturbing relationship with private evangelical groups."
