K. & J., as before, we taped it for you.

Everyone else, if you feel like catching up, marathon this Friday on SciFi. You won't regret it.

(Other notes: anyone else getting a bad vibe off the Eragon commercials?)

today's top read

"Saddam Hussein and the autocracy he ruled were the product of a dysfunctional politics, not the cause of it. Reform of such a politics was always going to be a task of incalculable complexity. Faced with such complexity, and determined to have their war and their democratic revolution, the President and his counselors looked away. Confronted with great difficulties, their answer was to blind themselves to them and put their faith in ideology and hope - in the dream of a welcoming landscape, magically transformed. The evangelical vision may have made the sense of threat after September 11 easier to bear but it did not change the risks and the reality on the ground. The result is that the wave of change the President and his officials were so determined to set in course by unleashing American military power may well turn out to be precisely the wave of Islamic radicalism that they had hoped to prevent."

"Write a journal entry with six random facts about yourself. Then, pick six of your friends list and tag them - no tagbacks. These rules should be included in your entry."

1. I don't care about cars. At all. If it gets me from point A to point B in some vague amount of comfort, that's all I'm after.
2. Going along with the above, I enjoy listening to the radio in the car. Not even including NPR, I enjoy flipping through a couple favorite stations and figuring out what's on.
3. I hate polo shirts. I think they're an abomination. Long-sleeve, button-down, all the way.
4. I always have some song stuck in my head. at the same time, I'm always quoting movies/comic books/tag lines quietly to myself. It's like this world of noise that goes along with thinking really fast all the time, which I think is why I talk so fast.
5. My favorite number has always been twelve.
6. I've never learned to play any musical instrument, but I'd love to learn the violin or the piano.

"Congressional Republicans now routinely lament that more of them might still have their jobs if Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld had lost his before election day. That might be right. But it's also true that Rumsfeld might have been out of work sooner had more congressional Republicans done their own job."

Remember all that uproar about Bush's secret wiretapping program? One year later, and it's still going on, and no one seems to notice or care.

Courtesy imamsawez, it's, uh, a giant thing.
