Thrilling Two-Fisted Tales of Commuters Observed:

Oh, man. So. Orange line this morning, from L'Enfant to Virginia Square (a.k.a., the second leg of my trip.) The Metro conductor sounds *way* too much like the Smuckers Jelly announcer guy. And he was cracking the whole train up with his annoucnements.

"Orange line to Franconia... oh, that's not right... I need a vacation."

"Now listen up, this is important."

"If I don't see you five minutes from now, have a nice daaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..."

"The time is 6:40 am. [whispering] And you still have time for that cup of coffee."

[approaching a busy stop]"If you have to step off the train to let people off the train, I promise to give you enough time to get back on the train. That's right! I promise!" [after that stop] "Thank you very much, that was fantastic."

"The time is now 6:50 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......."

Conservatives express concern over Bush's ambitious second term agenda. "In a clear break from Republican campaigns of the 1990s to downsize government and devolve power to the states, Bush is fostering what amounts to an era of new federalism in which the national government shapes, not shrinks, programs and institutions to comport with various conservative ideals, according to Republicans inside and outside the White House."

Hahaha, whoops! When the Bush administration said $400 billion before the Medicare drug benefit vote, what they meant was actually upwards of $720 billion. Now that the vote passed. What a wacky mixup!

"Baltimore is in line for the title of deadliest big city in the nation, with a homicide rate three times greater than Los Angeles."
