the "October surprise" I would write

OK, here's the suckerpunch I want to hear from Kerry tonight at the debate. He can also save it for the next debate if he wants, but really, I want it out in the ether promptly.

I just want to hear him ask one question. A mere ten words. To quote Saint Reagan:

"Are you better off than you were four years ago?"

This question is positively damning to incumbents. Bush can hem and haw, but there's no reasonable answer he can give. Look at what he's accomplished with the neocon revolution taking the House, Senate, and the top job. And still, nothing good gets done. Are the (mostly inherited) recession and 9/11 incident partially to blame? Sure, it's not all their fault. But the more Bush has to rationalize and explain, the less the average voter is going to listen to the reply.

"Are you better off than you were four years ago?" Man, it just rolls off the tongue.

The Post offers some more questions for the debate tonight.
Plus, Howard Kurtz wonders about the WMD report's impact, and Dan Froomkin clues us in on what to listen for, and some conspiracy theory. (Bonus: USAToday, you scamps.)

I have to confess, that was a pretty informative debate. The questions weren't half as slanted as I was worried, and these noble citizens even brought up questions that haven't come up before (Patriot Act, Supreme Court nominees, the environment, and oh, paying for all this stuff.)

Seemed pretty close, but I think that, again, they'll give Kerry the nod. After that first outburst against the moderator, I was convinced Bush was gonna melt down halfway through.

But, was I hallucinating, or did Bush mention Dred Scott? WTF mate^^??
