Rock Star

For those of you who have Comcast digital cable, allow me to make a recommendation. They've just added a new music channel (in our area, it's channel 422) called "Retro-Active." I really really wish this was a radio station I could get in the car and elsewhere, because I would never turn it off.

Let me present a sample of what they played, in order, this afternoon:

the Damned
Icehouse
ABC (specifically, "When Smokey Sings")
the Go-Gos (and not one of their big hits, either.)
David Bowie (ditto.)
The The

And this was after they played some Sisters of Mercy. It's a great mix of, well, 80s stuff and random stuff, that I totally dig.

"George Bush's lack of a second-term blueprint has finally made it to the front page of The Washington Post. Which kind of makes you wonder: Where has this issue been until now?

"It's a testament, really, to the media's general lack of interest in policy issues. Swing states, veepstakes, polls, potshots, F-word, attack ads, good hair, dumping Cheney -- we're all over it. But the fact that the president of the United States hasn't spelled out what he would do over the next four years -- hey, we can't cover everything, right?"

Also, Nader's getting some extra help... from the GOP.

Paul Krugman has his own Manchurian candidate.

Be proud, Virginia. Turns out Warner was the senator who got the room for King Moon's coronation.

How Marvel Comics became "a Hollywood Superpower."
