Oscars nominees
The 84th Academy Awards nominees have been announced. Here's the complete list of nominees. Quick thoughts by the LATimes. Salon thinks the Academy went safe and nostalgic, but really, that isn't news. Plus, bitter comments from Simon Brew, and amusing reactions from ElizaGoLighty.

I haven't seen... a single one of the Best Picture nominees. Which *should* make the 'see all the best picture nominees' marathon an easy sell, but, ehn. There's one, maybe two I would be interested in. And I'm no sure the ones they went with would be worth taking two Saturdays off from work. Le sigh. (I know, I know. First world something-something.) Maybe I could take one day off instead of two, and try to catch M:I4, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Underworld: Awakening in 24 hours?

But they better give Rango best animated. That movie was da bomb.

From what I know about it, I will either love or loathe Tree of Life, same with Hugo.

I've been told Moneyball is good, but man, that's a tough sell.

Some thoughts from Bob Mondello.

MI:4 was very fun, perfect for an action flick that you don't want to think to much about.

I'm not terribly interested in the Best Pic noms but I do think I'm adding all of Best Foreign to my Netflix queue.
