In Theaters: Hanna

Last week, caught up with a friend in Bethesda to see a movie. Checked out what was playing at the Landmark first (need to remember to keep my eyes peeled for 13 Assassins.) Took a 'shortcut' to the other theater, which turned out to not only not be a shortcut, but also an adventurous tunnel under Bethesda. Runs under a large building, but with chainlink fences and streetlights and a surprising lack of urban decay. It was pretty neat, made better by the cold and rainy evening and the company to share it with. Eventually grabbed dinner at the place with the torches on top of the building, which also featured light-up menus. Tasty food, but I don't know.

Anyways. We finally picked Hanna, which turned out to be a fortuitous choice. I expected more drama, but it's an intense action flick, stylish and moody, in a good way. The setup and some of the developments are pretty Hollywood, but they pull it off with good character work and a great intensity. Saoirse Ronan steals the show, and deservedly so. I am still a little confused where they were going with Cate Blanchett's accent. But regardless, check it out, you won't be disappointed.

New trailers:
* The Debt - Action thriller with post-war Nazi hunters and a central mystery. Maybe? Decent cast.
* Thor - Definitely looking better, but man, I am pretty tired of origin stories. Loki looks good, as does the Destroyer.
* Captain America: The First Avenger - I shouldn't say this out loud, but it's the summer movie I'm looking forward to the most.
* The Three Musketeers - Yes, again. Going for the young attractive set. But c'mon, how can you resist Milla Jovovich as de Winter?
