In Theaters: Prince of Persia

As noted previously, for M.'s birthday last week we took an evening out for dinner and a movie. She decided on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and we were justly rewarded. It's everything you want in a summer action flick, visually attractive on the big screen and with the right mix of action, comedy, suspense, and characterization. I was eminently pleased with the B-grade villains in the movie. Yes, I would have preferred a less Anglo-Saxon casting, but everyone does a decent job, especially Mr. Gyllenhaal. No, it won't win any awards for the year, but it's a good night at the movies. Give it a shot.

New trailers:
* The Last Airbender - The newest trailer totally won me over, and not just because we got a glimpse of Appa.
* The Sorcerer's Apprentice - I must always point out I'm no Nicholas Cage fan, but this looks to be dumb fun.
