Previously, on Lost...

* Previously: "There is a darkness growing in him."
* Jack. Scar? Can't find Christian's will. And, can't remember having his appendix removed?
* "St. Mary's Academy. "OK, Dad."
* Hee, most complicated tic-tac-toe setup ever. Jacob! Fixing the water? "I'm here because I need you." Get a pen, heh. Someone's coming to the island, and he needs Hurley to help them find it.
* The Annotated Alice. Heh, is the kid listening to Drive Shaft?
* "Why are they all staring at me?" -Sayid
* Claire's been out there since the Oceanic Six left. Three years!
* Tunnel. Hee, arm. Hieroglyphs. "Tell him you can do what you want. Tell him you're a candidate."
* "And I just lied to a samurai."
* "He's kind of dead. Turns up whenever he wants, like Obi-Wan Kenobi."
* Man, this is just a Hurley-steals-the-show episode.
* Yep, Claire has gone the full Rousseau. CREEPY FAKE BABY. "If there's one thing that will kill you out here, it's infection."
* "Oh, I'm not by myself."
* "Jacob said just you and me. She's kind of not invited." -Hurley
* "Did your father ever mention a Claire Littleton?"
* "First my father told me, and then my friend told me." -Claire
* Shannon's inhaler. The caves! Adam & Eve. "What if these skeletons were us?"
* "This is cool, dude. Very old school... You know, you and me, trekking through the jungle, on our way to do something that we don't quite understand. Good times." -Hurley, who is awesome.
* "I came back here because I was broken, and I was stupid enough to think this place could fix me." -Jack
* Lighthouse! "I guess we weren't looking for it."
* And, Claire axe'd him a question. Heh heh heh.
* "Doesn't say anything on your arm about the door being jammed?" -Jack, who can totally open it
* The internet tells me that the music David is playing is 'Fantasie-Impromptu' by Chopin (wiki) which is what Faraday was playing previously.
* "They are too young to have this kind of pressure, aren't they?" -Dogan(!)
* Wheel! Names, with numbers, some crossed off. (So I guess last week's list was actually the Adversary's list.) Reflections! Who is Wallace?!
* Nevermind, Jack's just going to bust it up. Nice one.
* "...Because I didn't want you to see me fail." -David
* "He wouldn't have been able to see me anyways." -Jacob

Hurley: Thanks for the seven years of bad luck, by the way.
Jacob: You've got ink on your forehead.

* "I'm sure they'll find some other way." -Jacob
* Get them far from the Temple. Someone bad coming?
* "That's not John. This is my friend."

Oh, hey, is that Rousseau's name on the big wheel of names?

Also, what if Kwon doesn't mean Sun or Jin, but their daughter?

Indeed! I think she was in the Adversary's cave list, too. Of course, could have been Alex.

Also, what if Kwon doesn't mean Sun or Jin, but their daughter?

I wouldn't be surprised if Aaron was on there too, since he's also destined for... something?

I also would like to suggest that #108, which is listed as Wallace, is actually Vincent's last name.

Also notice that Ben's name is crossed out at #117.

According to Twitter, what Dogen said in Japanese to Hugo was along the lines of, "Good thing you're a candidate, or I'd cut your head off."

Good question.

At least Jacob, if not him and the Adversary, seem to have some supernatural knowledge to make these lists. (I posit that the Lighthouse is Jacob's list, and the cave is the Adversary's.)

Now, we know the Others somehow work for Jacob, and would sometimes get lists from him. But we also know that Jacob isn't always right about things (Sayid getting 'infected.) I mean, unless this is all part of some crazy omniscient plan. Suffice it to say, though, his lists and plans are awfully convoluted for us mere mortals to comprehend. It's possible he set a bunch of things in motion to set the Candidates on the path toward discovering what they must do to protect the island? Jack has to be ready to accept his role, etc.

I also wonder if when the Others thought they were getting information from Jacob, it was actually the Adversary. I'm thinking specifically of when Ben led Locke through the jungle to find the mysterious cabin, surrounded by a ring of ashes, where we first glimpsed what we thought was Jacob. And I suspect that some of the Christian sightings were actually the Adversary, leading people on the wrong path. Maybe he slipped in some lists of his own, to torment the survivors more, to make them more willing to ignore Jacob and leave the island?

Not convinced of *all* Christian sightings, personally. I've been plumbing the depths of my memory, trying to recall all the significant Christian sightings, and parsing out what his motives were, and why the Adversary would want the Island moved, or want the Survivors to find the caves, or what have you. So, maybe? Does the Adversary need a dead body to manifest as something other than Smokey?

(And why hasn't Miles been able to see Jacob? He's a ghostbuster!)

Also, Hugo could see Dead Charlie on the mainland. Can the Adversary leave? I was under the impression he couldn't. Yet, Jacob can.

And why did freaky dream Claire yell at Kate not to bring Aaron back?

I'm a couple episodes behind, but I'm guessing that the show adheres to a quasi-Egyptian conception of a multi-part soul. Miles can see the not-so-rational part that sticks with the body (Ib?). Hurley probably sees something like the Ba. The Adversary seems to only be able to take the form of people whose bodies are on the island (with the possible exception on Ben's mother) - so it might be connected to a soul-body bit as well (my guess is the Sheut - the shadow, which is also associated with Anubis... and shadows are close to black smoke...).

I had actually brought up that concept of the Egyptian multi-souls before, in discussing with M., when I posited that the Adversary was, in fact, also part of Jacob.
