no, I did not bid five on one spade

ceciskittle and t1tdave came over last night. M. whipped up a delicious meal, and we settled in for some fine conversation and the game of spades. I have a love-hate relationship with the game. I sort of remember how to play every time, but once cards start flipping, I go all drunken-monkey style, generally causing chaos, throwing up enough sandbags to defend the beaches at Normandy, and basically wreck up the joint. Causes my partner no end of consternation, but usually works out in my favor. (As it did yesterday.) If *I* don't know what I'm doing, there's no way the other team can predict my actions, either. Anyways, M. has vowed to sit me down next week and get me to understand the actual process, so we'll see how that goes.

Afterwards, up 'till all hours conversing and hanging out with M., which is kind of kicking my ass this morning, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Happy Lammas, if that's your thing.
