Over the weekend, we snuck out with a couple cool cats to see The Dark Knight. In addition to being just about the best comic book movie, ever, this is also just a damn fine movie. Ledger's death before the film's release will always cast a shadow over things, which is a shame, because his performance is nearly flawless, and deserves to stand on its own merit. Same goes for Aaron Eckhart, who really turned Harvey Dent into a convincing character in short order. I fully did not expect some of the plot twists, and, other than the Batcycle, there's very little I would change. The movie is long, but I don't think it overstays its welcome, and the box office take from this weekend backs that up. Definitely the best movie I've seen this year.

One spoiler on a favorite scene in comments.

I'll take care of trailers in a later post.
