Netflixin': August Rush

A couple cool cats came over last night. We ordered Chinese and watched August Rush. Now, don't get me wrong, I had my sights set pretty low. And, expectations met! Heh. It's a sweet story that seriously doesn't try to cleave to any sort of realism, but it kind of works. It's also clearly by musical fetishists, for musical fetishists, as they spend a lot of time wallowing in sound and talking about how cool music is. The cast all does their roles well enough, but none of the parts are overly deep. Bonus points for Jonathan Rhys Meyers for doing his own singing, and double bonus points for Keri Russell for playing the freakin' cello too. Robin Williams didn't even bug me that much either. So, yes. Adequate flick, but not for everyone.
