Thanks to the generosity of friend, we were able to catch Iron Man over the weekend. Good stuff! Marvel is taking a new strategy with doing their movies themselves, and I think they exceeded expectations with this first outing. Casting was good, dialogue and plot were decent, and they left themselves a lot of room to grow. I appreciate that they kept in a lot of the key elements of Iron Man's character, while modernizing it and compressing the storytelling to fit in a single movie. Toss in Jeff Bridges cracking me up repeatedly and a handful of Marvel references, and it's well worth checking out on the big screen. (And, as noted many other places, stick around until after the credits.)

New trailers:
* The Love Guru - Looks painfully unfunny. Mike Myers needs to be stopped.
* You Don't Mess with the Zohan - Looks painfully unfunny. Adam Sandler needs to be stopped.
* The Spirit - As noted previously, it's looking sharp. I'm a little concerned about Mr. Miller being involved, but fingers crossed. I also wouldn't be upset if it looked a little more different from Sin City, as an aside.
* The Dark Knight - Maggie Gyllenhaal and Batmanuel? Guys, you didn't need to convince me twice. Until further notice, this is my #1 pick.
* The Incredible Hulk - The real challenge is distancing themselves from the first movie, and it looks like they'll do an admirable job.
* Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Guys, please don't screw this up.
