Catching up is hard to do

Alarming: reading DMZ on the way in to work, running late, and getting to Georgetown and seeing M Street shut down with sirens, fire trucks, and cop cars blocking the street.

So, yeah. As mentioned elsewhere, this week's been goofy, and not wholly in good ways.

Ended up missing work Thursday, as the sleep schedule was way off and, admittedly, it was my anniversary and all. Unfortunately, that messed up my sleep schedule for that night as well, and when it's late o'clock and you realize you do, in fact, have another sick day available, and you could, in fact, skip work and catch an early matinee movie with your remaining gift card, well, logic wins out and all. I feel bad about missing work again. A little. Gotta be diligent for the next few weeks and extra attentive to things here to make up for it.

More on the matinee later, of course.

Yesterday evening, headed out to the wild and woolly parts of VA (like, say, Clarendon Ballston Commons) to grab dinner with rshackleford at the ever-tasty Rock Bottom. Thereafter, we ended up skipping a movie (no convenient times!) and headed back to her place to hang out and watch that Shaolin Soccer I had heard so much about. Fun!

Getting back stateside was a bit more involved than planned (including, yes, sleeping through a Metro stop, which I haven't done in forever. Sigh.) (I did totally finish the book club book, though.) which lead to an utter lack of sleep last night as well. Whuf. The lesson here is: always crash in VA.

Tonight, some relaxation and hanging out, theoretically, and then hopefully a quiet weekend ahead. Er, except for the houseguests tomorrow. And the other VA trip Monday. And the house cleaning on Tuesday. But other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?
