I'm still getting used to this daylight savings time thing. Unless I take a break at work, I don't actually see the sun other than a little as I am walking in to work. This morning was not cold, but it was certainly brisk. Walking in the dark to the bus stop, it was eerily quiet. No cars on the road. No fellow commuters waiting for the bus, which was running late. The world seemed to hold its breath. A few lone cars glide by.
A car pulls out of my apartment complex, a white hatchback, the kind of car college students buy. The windows are down, and even before it came into view, I could hear it. Uncharacteristically for this empty time of morning, he was blaring his music. He rolled up the road, turned past me, and rolled out of view, and all I heard was the song:
I can see it in your eyes
I can see it in your smile
You're all I've ever wanted
My arms are open wide
