The editor of FILAMENT magazine thought it’d be funny to have me answer several reader questions on the general subject of Etiquette. Apparently my written responses made her proofreader cry. The issue in question, number three, is out now (preview page) and can be purchased at this link here for a very small number of pennies for such a clever and classy-looking object.

And, before anyone asks: no, my piece isn’t online. FILAMENT are in business to sell copies of magazines. But I will give you a brief preview:

"At what age is it best to crush a child’s dreams so that they have an easier time stepping in to the status quo?"</b>

You fool. You do not do such things to children. A child is like a poison missile you aim at the Future. You encourage, fund and resource their dreams to the fullest extent of your capability, knowing that your reward will be the pain and misery of generations yet unborn.

(Also in issue three: Gala Darling and Zoe Margolis. Not bad company to be keeping.)

December is upon us and Christmas only a few short week's away, so if you're late on your holiday shopping, be sure to check out our Holiday Gift Guide.  But the start of a new month means one thing - a new TMC - The Monthly Crisis post, our monthly wrap up of the stories and reviews we did for the previous month.

This month's cover goes to the Marko Djurkovic drawn Thor and his iPod in honour of our Top 10 Tuesdays post covering 10 Songs That Best Describe a Character, which was a fun post to do and just something you don't see every day. Other noteworthy posts include another Top 10 Tuesdays post covering the 10 Comics You Should Be Reading, a discussion on digital comics, Matt going over the Frankencastle changes to Punisher, some great trade reviews cover books such as Chew, Perspolis and so much more.  You can read about these and all our other posts after the jump.

For those unaware, TMC is a comic magazine I put together earlier this year as a free download that featured my year end awards, reviews and even some Final Crisis annotations.

While the act of creating a magazine was too much to do a monthly basis, the fake magazine proved so popular that I just couldn't leave it alone and, thus, these month end posts were born and have become a staple of the blog and act as a pseudo archives of sort. If you missed any news, reviews, moments of the week or any of the numerous opinion or editorials posted here at the Weekly Crisis, these posts provide a detailed account of everything we've done for the month in a convenient and easy to navigate post.

snidegrrl: @neonnova I interpreted that as the 'whoah this soup is spicy!' expression.

snidegrrl: @neonnova it's a 35mm f1.8 dx and the book club pics are up on my flickr now but I'll say I need to practice with it. Made some mistakes.

snidegrrl: @Freshwidow I would fire said shrink unless it was a previously agreed upon thing for observation.

It's that time again, gang! So far, Santa is kind of freaking out over some of the weird crap he's getting, but the family of deer is a nice touch, so he remains hopeful. Let's take a look at what could be behind door number eight!

It's a... hmmm. I guess that could be a pile of hay or something, right? It looks like a freaky plastic hairpiece or kind of what a Muppet would look like if it melted.

Yeah, Santa's less than impressed. But not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, he immediately tries to see if he could maybe cram all of that bologna down that small hole. Good thinking Santa!

Tune in tomorrow for more advent calendar oddities! Ho Ho Ho!

An anonymous poster on the toy image boards posted these cool catalog pages from the toy section of a Consumers (that's a store?) catalog. It's from 1986, which represents some pretty classic toys, but also represents the last year that I was trying to cling to wanting toys for Christmas. But adolescence won out and that year (and actually the year before, really) I was more concerned with skateboards and cassette tapes. This is often how I think of the Thundercats, as the toys I never had, but kind of wanted, but realized I was too old.

Although I did secretly buy a few Superpowers figures which hid under my bed with my M.U.S.L.C.E. guys. But don't tell anybody!

Hope you don't mind I'm just popping in to share. I realize Ms. Earhart's accomplishments were technically just after the final years of the reign of Queen Victoria, I hope you enjoy the tribute nonetheless.
